African-themed chalets
The property offers African-themed chalets such as the Zebra Room, Oryx, and Nguni. Each chalet has a private entrance, a furnished terrace overlooking the Swartberg Mountains and valley, air conditioning, a refrigerator, a tea/coffee station, a hairdryer, and a private bathroom. There are no TVs or Wi-Fi inside the chalets-only in the main lodge.
On-site dining and bar
Breakfast is a full English breakfast served each morning. Dinner is prepared nightly by host Hannalize and features home-cooked Karoo cuisine with generous portions. The lodge also has a bar serving wine and champagne. Special diet menus can be arranged upon request. Guests can enjoy a campfire after dinner for stargazing.
Pool, hiking, wildlife
An outdoor swimming pool with a view of the mountains is available, along with sun loungers and umbrellas. The property has marked hiking and walking trails. Wildlife roams freely on the grounds-including giraffe, eland, sable, nyala, zebra, and kudu-and gathers near the main lodge around 5 pm for feeding. Bicycle rental, bike tours, and walking tours are also on offer.
Location and access
Zwartberg View Mountain Lodge is located 20 km from Oudtshoorn, just off the N12 near De Rust. The Cango Caves, ostrich farms, meerkat encounters, and horse riding are within easy driving distance. George Airport is 1 hour and 15 minutes away. An airport shuttle can be arranged.
Services and booking help
The hosts provide free advice before arrival via WhatsApp and help arrange excursions such as game drives or cave tours. On-site services include daily housekeeping, laundry/ironing, luggage storage, private check-in/check-out, a concierge, a tour desk, and a safety deposit box. Free parking is available. The lodge runs off-grid with solar power and its own water supply.
